Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning
(EAL) are accomplished through experiential learning. The process begins by talking to a therapist about what you wish to work on. Then you arrive and step into a situation set up by that therapist which will allow you to work on that type of issue with one or more horses. Through actually experiencing what did and did not work while completing the set up situation, clients learn and practice new strategies to achieve their goals in life. Many times there is little verbal communication, as the horse provides its own, non-judgmental, critical feedback experientially in the moment.
